Students Place in Top 3 for NASA Moon Work Competition, 2nd Consecutive Year

 For the second year in a row, a small group of students participated in the NASA Moon Work Competition. The competition requires that students design a system for a lunar base. This year, a small team of 3 submitted an entry, entitled "Robotic Platform for ISRU with Active Battery Management and Lunar Nocturnal Operation Capability". 

Student Participate in Inaugural NASA Lunabotics Mining Competition

 ECE students participated in the first-annual NASA Lunabotics Mining Competition, which took place May 24th-28th at NASA Kennedy Space Center. The competition required that participants build a robot capable of mining at least 10kg of lunar regolith for the purpose of oxygen production on the moon. Akron's team, comprised of both electrical and mechanical engineers, build a robot within the given requirements and rules, and earned an honorable mention at the competition - placing 6th overall out of 29 teams.

ECE Student Selected as Finalists in Launchtown Business Idea Competition

2 ECE students - Tom Vo (Masters) and Courtney Gras (Junior), entered the Launchtown Business Competition. Their business idea was selected as one of the top 4, in competiiton with colleges from all over NE Ohio. More information on the compeititon can be found here: http://www.launchtown.org/

ROBOGAMES 2010 RESULTS

ROBOGAMES is the world's largest robotic competition, with over 600 competitors from over 20 countries, competing in over 60 competitions, with over 7000 paying spectators.  Our teams showed tremendous persistence and creativity in overcoming a variety of challenges.  This brought great success for the second consecutive year at ROBOGAMES, with results as follows: 

Faraday Evening Banquet!

The annual Faraday Evening Banquet is taking place on Friday, April 30th at 6pm at Guy's Party Center off Waterloo Rd. Tickets are $10 for students and $15 for faculty. The banquet includes a buffet dinner, and numerous other fun surprises and traditions. Dress attire is semi-formal. All ECE students and guests are welcome to attend.

IEEE Paper Contest Presentations at Tangiers

Come and observe your peers present thier entries to the IEEE paper contest, and enjoy a (very) affordable buffet dinner at Tangiers (off Market street). Cost is $5 for students (IEEE members), and $15 for all others. A cash bar will be available starting at 5pm, followed by dinner at 6, and presentations at 7.
