Why IEEE?

You may be wondering  - why should I join the IEEE? What are the benefits? These questions, along with others, have been addressed by some of the ECE Advisory Council members.

"For me and my firm as Consulting Specifying Engineers, the IEEE provides invaluable information on very complex design issues through their
publications specifically the books (white, green, emerald, etc.) and
white papers they publish. There is no one else providing this information to our industry. We reference IEEE material almost daily."

"IEEE offers a plethora of engineering publications and societies that benefit those who practice engineering. IEEE offers their members term life insurance and disability insurance at premiums that are not available to a person who was not part of a large group. At a sudent level, IEEE membership offers early participation and exposure to the benefits provided by a truly professional engineering society.  The research publications and journals are incredible. I believe student membership would be favorably impressive on one's resume. I've been an IEEE member since my pre-junior year of college.  Thirty six years later, my only regret is that i do not have the time to participate more fully."
